Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
The TWRA needs your help in collecting invasive carp. If you catch an invasive carp anywhere in Tennessee other than the Mississippi River OR If you catch any Invasive carp in East Tennessee or other water where invasive carp are not known to be established, the agency is asking that you put it on ice or freeze it and contact them immediately.

If you are unable to keep the fish, the TWRA asks you to submit photos of the fish and send the image to us. You can contact the nearest TWRA office by phone here, or by email at ans.twra@tn.gov.

Update: Invasive Zebra Mussels Found in Pets Stores in 21 States (Mar 8, 2021; U.S. Geological Survey Press Release). Agencies, industry in coordinated response to help stores and consumers find and destroy troublesome shellfish.

The Pet Advocacy Network (formerly PIJAC - Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council) wishes to inform you of an important invasive species threat that was recently discovered in the U.S. Zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha), which are regarded as one of the most troublesome invasive species in North America, have been discovered within a variety of moss ball products designed for aquarium use, including products being sold and used in aquariums in stores in multiple states, including Oregon, Washington and Florida.

Specifically identified in a report from the U.S. Geological Survey Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Database, a release from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and a press release from Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, PIJAC urges you to take immediate action to inspect your fish tanks and take action as necessary. This year’s unusually warm winter and spring has led to the early hatch of spotted lanternfly (SLF) in states to our south. Reports have come in over the past couple of weeks of SLF hatching from Virginia to Pennsylvania, and we anticipate them following suit here in Massachusetts in the next month.

Nebraska Forest Service.
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) has confirmed that emerald ash borer (EAB) was discovered during a site inspection in Omaha's Pulaski Park on June 6, 2016. Nebraska becomes the 27th state to confirm the presence of EAB, joining neighboring states of Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado.

A "New Pest Advisory" provides information on new pests and diseases that have become established in Hawaii. Individuals can help reduce the spread of these pests and diseases by being aware of their signs and symptoms and not moving them to other islands in the State.
