Red Palm Mite Infestation Identified in Palm Gardens (Dec 5, 2007)

This is the first confirmed report of this serious plant pest in the United States and is a direct threat to the ornamental palm and coconut industries in Florida, Alabama, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Texas.

DNR Surveying for Invasive Rusty Crayfish (Oct 18, 2007)

The rusty crayfish (Orconectes rusticus), an aggressive, non-native, and invasive species, was first discovered in the Monocacy River in north-central Maryland on Jun 28, 2007. It was later discovered in Maryland's portion of the Susquehanna River watershed.

On Sep 13 and 14, 2007, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed Chrysanthemum White Rust (CWR) at two separate nurseries in Hartford and Fairfield Counties, Connecticut, respectively.

The American bullfrog is native to the eastern U.S and Canada. It is illegal to possess or transport one in Utah. Call (435) 781-5315 to report sightings of bullfrogs in Utah.

Detection of Sirex noctilio Fabricius (Sirex woodwasp) in Lamoille County, Vermont (Sep 18, 2007)

This is the first detection of S. noctilio in the New England region of the United States.
