We are planning to implement a new design to match
the new interface of USDA's
Web site. As per USDA - "Agency
Web site redesigns will reinforce the Department's
dedication to strengthening service, strengthening
our brand and streamlining our stakeholder's access
to vital information."

We are also working to migrate the current
static Web site into Drupal,
an open source content management system. We migrated
in Oct 2013 to Drupal (the look and
feel is somewhat different).
We previously redesigned our Web site in 2006
to fit the USDA Web
standard, which is part of a broader USDA regulation
Site Development and Maintenance. This
initiative is designed to ensure a standard, consistent, "look
and feel" for all USDA Web
sites and Web-based applications, while encouraging
innovation and minimizing constraints on agencies'
Web-based presentations. A consistent appearance and
logic to all USDA Web
pages makes it easier to find information quickly and
reduces confusion. This USDA Web
standard is set forth in the USDA Web
Style Guide, a precise document that governs layout,
appearance, accessibility, and usability guidelines,
among other things.
