Launches Redesigned Kids Site (Jun 7, 2010)

Agricultural
Research Service.
Sci4Kids,
an educational website operated by the Agricultural
Research Service now has a new look and "feel." The
website, which is primarily geared to youngsters aged
8-13, offers a "Teachers' Desk" loaded with
classroom resources and activities designed to stimulate
kids' learning about agricultural research. New features
include: Images of Ag Research," a captioned slideshow
depicting science in action, from a dive-bombing fly
that's forcing fire ants to take cover, to parasitic
tapeworms "pickled" in a jar.

Virtual Issue: Key Perspectives in the Management of Biological Invasions (Oct 2009)
Journal of Applied Ecology.
The Journal of Applied Ecology has published a Virtual Issue of papers on "Key Perspectives in the Management of Biological Invasions",
to coincide with the International
Congress on Biological Invasions, held in Fuzhou, China (Nov 2-6, 2009) and to bring applied perspectives in the management of invasive species to a wider readership. The issue includes the 20 most cited papers the journal has published in this field in the last 5 years.

Aquatic
Plant Management Research Scholarships Available
Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society.
The Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society (NEAPMS) announces the
availability of scholarship funds and/or student stipends for college
students focusing in the field of aquatic plant management.
Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 are available to graduate students
that are studying some aspect of aquatic plant management or algal
management.
Student stipends up to $5,000 are available for undergraduate students
working on a project related to aquatic plant management.
